Impressions of past hackathons

Don’t worry, this is not about criminal energy or data theft. Rather, a hackathon is an event for innovation, unusual ideas and for exchanging ideas with interesting contacts. Made up of the terms “hacking” and “marathon”. The participants have to solve a technical problem within a predetermined time. The focus here is on generating an idea and a suitable concept, rather than developing a finished product.

There are many reasons for this. The ESE Hackathon is an exciting competition in which you can work together as a team to win attractive cash and non-cash prizes. Your team will receive €800 for first place, €600 for second place and €400 for third place. You have the opportunity to exchange ideas with our team of experts and have interesting discussions, and you are not alone during the project phases. Our hackathon is a one-day event, and we will always provide you with good food, snacks and drinks. You will also gain an insight into a realistic project scenario, as experienced by our team of experts in their day-to-day work. Perhaps our hackathon will be your springboard into the world of software development with us!

The ESE Hackathon is preferably aimed at students who are enrolled in a STEM degree program and are proficient in at least one programming language.

Yes. Participation in our ESE Hackathon is free of charge.

No. Sign up and meet new, exciting like-minded people and win together! At the beginning of our event, you will get to know each other over a delicious breakfast.

Various aspects of your project are included in the evaluation. These include:

Completeness. The more complete the project is completed, the greater the likelihood that you will be able to take home the big prize.

Documentation. Good documentation makes half the project. Therefore, well-structured documentation also increases your chances of winning.

Technology. The more impressive your project is on a technical level, the higher it will be ranked by the jury.

Significance. Will your project lead to the desired goal, and can the cat really be saved? Does your level crossing meet most of the requirements? Is it also safe? The more useful it is, the more positively our judges will assess your project.
