Optimized maintenance for rail vehicles

Rail vehicles have a long service life. During this time, components and subsystems are repaired if necessary, overhauled in between and replaced several times if necessary. Vehicle maintenance management addresses the processes required for this. Digital technologies are also increasingly finding their way into vehicle maintenance. However, the successful introduction of data-driven and digital business models requires more than just technological and legal prerequisites – without acceptance among the workforce, success will fail to materialize.

In his technical article, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Lars Schnieder looks at the opportunities for optimization in the maintenance of rail vehicles. He focuses in particular on digitalization, information and communication technology platforms, the legal foundations of digital business models and active change management in order to create sustainable acceptance among the workforce.
