ESE GmbH donates €9,569 for reforestation in the Harz

Employees covered a total of 9,569 kilometers in this year’s city bike ride and company run. ESE Engineering und Software-Entwicklung GmbH is supporting the commitment of its employees with a donation to the Future Forest Foundation. This will finance the reforestation of over 1,900 trees in the Harz.

ESE Engineering und Software-Entwicklung GmbH from Braunschweig has been taking part in city cycling and the company run for years. “This year, everything is a little different,” says Dr.-Ing. habil. Lars Schnieder, Managing Director of ESE GmbH. “To make the joint activities for our team extra special this year, we quickly set up the fundraising campaign. As a company, we are donating one euro per kilometer walked or cycled by our employees to the Future Forest Foundation.”

As part of the 21-day city cycling event and a specially initiated company run, ESE employees covered a total of 9,569 kilometers – and thus raised a donation of the same amount. Lars Schnieder is particularly pleased about the great commitment of his colleagues. “This year we had a record number of participants, with a total of 51 colleagues cycling and 45 runners. In Braunschweig, we achieved 31st place in the team ranking for city cycling. And colleagues from our locations in Berlin and Erlangen also took part in the campaign,” says Lars Schnieder. “We are very proud of this team performance! Our expectations were more than exceeded!”

Elisabeth Hüsing, Director of the Future Forest Foundation, is also delighted with the donation. “Where there used to be forests in the Harz, there are now large clear areas due to climate change and the bark beetle. Thanks to ESE’s generous donation, we can reforest an area the size of almost a soccer pitch in the Harz.”
