Structuring of a technical system in rail traffic

The September 2017 issue of “Deine Bahn” contains an article by Hansjörg Manz from ESE GmbH on the topic of structuring a technical system in rail transport.

In the article “Satellite-based positioning in train protection” (Deine Bahn 2/2016), the GaLoROI project and the associated challenges for the implementation of satellite-based positioning in rail transport were presented. System architecture, localization algorithms and safety verification served as the basis for an assessment. The related work was part of the author’s dissertation, in which the development of a system based on the identified requirements is also considered. This is the subject of the following article. The results can be applied in all areas of rail transportation.
